Our Story

Independent Art Advisory & Consultancy, Established 2001

A consultant is judged on the picture they present and on never being surprised by it. You need a dealer who will give you a straight net price, tell you the truth about condition and attribution, turn a brief around quickly, and stay out of your relationship with your client. We have been dealing in nineteenth and twentieth-century European and American painting since 2001 and we work with consultants on exactly those terms.

Your client stays your client

We deal with you. We do not approach your client, before, during or after a transaction, and we are not on your account to build our own mailing list. Where it suits you for us to deliver, hang or speak to the client directly, we do so at your invitation and in your name.

Net prices, stated once

You receive a net trade price. What you charge above it is your business and we neither ask nor comment. No haggling, no shifting numbers, and no different price appearing elsewhere while you are presenting the picture.

Research you can pass on

Every work is researched and authenticated by our own team before it is offered. You receive high-resolution photography, a full condition report, provenance and literature where they exist, and a written catalogue entry — supplied plain, for you to present under your own name. Where an attribution is uncertain, we say so and tell you what would be needed to settle it. We would rather you lose a sale than defend one you should not have made.

Sourcing to brief

Much of our stock is never listed online, so ask before assuming we cannot help. Beyond it, we buy at auction, from colleagues in the trade and privately, and we will take on a specific brief — an artist, a subject, a scale, a budget — and report back honestly, including when the right picture simply has not appeared.

Framing, delivery and the rest

Conservation and restoration, framing specified to your scheme rather than ours, insurance valuations, crating and worldwide shipping, delivery and hanging. We also buy, which is worth knowing when a client is deaccessioning.

    Working with You

We work with your team, not around them

Most of the collections we place involve more than one advisor — an interior designer, a project manager, or your own art consultant. We are accustomed to working alongside the professionals already involved, and see our role as adding specialist knowledge to that team, not replacing it.

    How We Work

    Quietly, and on your terms

Discretion is not an afterthought for us — it is how this side of the business runs day to day.

    Nothing Publicised

Client names, locations and project details are never shared or used in our marketing without express permission.

    Established Advisor Relationships
