Paintings from the gallery have been acquired by major public collections — among others, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (Kansas City), the MuMa – Museum of Modern Art André Malraux (Le Havre), the Musée de l’Hôtel-Dieu (Mantes-la-Jolie), and the Dixon Gallery & Gardens (Memphis) — as well as by private collections across Europe and the United States. We exhibit five or six times a year at major art fairs across the United States, and open by appointment at our offices in the beautiful riverside town of Marlow, near London.
Our story
The gallery grew from one collector’s passion. Nick Leighton began buying paintings purely for the love of them, and turned that love into a business — assembling a remarkable personal collection along the way, always guided by a single rule he still applies to every acquisition: he buys only what he would be proud to hang in his own home.
How we work
Every painting we handle is the subject of careful, independent research — into authorship, provenance and condition — before it is offered. Where an active and credible expert exists for an artist, we obtain their certificate of authenticity and, where applicable, the work’s inclusion in the catalogue raisonné; where no such authority exists, we issue our own certificate of authenticity guaranteeing the work. We believe collecting should be unhurried and well informed, whether you are buying your first important picture or adding to an established collection, and we are always glad to discuss a work, its history and its place in an artist’s oeuvre. Worldwide shipping is included in our pricing.
