Jeune bretonne dans l’atelier Dyf – Arzon
by Marcel Dyf
Charles Boulet began his studies under Diogène Maillart and later at the Académie Ranson under Maurice Denis and Paul Sérusier. He married Maurice Denis's daughter and was one of the co-founders of the Ateliers d'Art Sacré (Sacred Art Studios), with George Desvallières. Boulet exhibited periodically between 1920 and 1943, showing religious paintings at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. He showed a painting in the Papal Pavillion at the Exposition Universelle of 1937. In collaboration with his wife, Noëlle Denis, he published a study on Rome, Romée, ou le pélerin moderne à Rome (1935). He painted two religious decorative scenes for his house. A retrospective exhibition of his work was shown in Crépy-en-Valois in 1999.
