Jeune bretonne dans l’atelier Dyf – Arzon
by Marcel Dyf
Iosif Yankelevich Perelmann was a Russian born painter who came to Paris around 1906 and lived there until his death. He painted scenes of life in Russia and Paris and focused on subjects relating to the Russian Orthodox Church. He exhibited in Paris in 1912 at Galerie Devambez in an exhibition entitled Exposition des Peintres et Sculpteurs Russes de Paris alongside his compatriots - Joseph Tepper, Iosif Chaykov, Nikolai Tarkhov, Leon Schulman Gaspard and others. Little else is known about his life. His work is extremely rare with only one other recorded example having been sold at auction at Sotheby's in 2003.
