Deux vieillards aux chatons
by Jean-Francois Raffaelli
Georges Maroniez was taught by M. and Mme. Demont-Breton. He had several jobs at the same time: investigating magistrate, engineer and painter.
In Paris his work appeared at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français, of which he became a member in 1889. He received an honourable mention in 1891, a third-class medal in 1905 and a second-class medal in 1906. He was also made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
He is primarily known as an accomplished painter of the sea and the lives of fishermen. He painted in Brittany.
