Born in Paris in 1903, Georges Charles Robin was a student of Paul Michel Dupuy at École des Beaux-Arts, achieving success in his early career as a stage designer for the Charleville Theatre and the Dinan Casino. Robin travelled and painted throughout France, but was particularly attracted to Brittany, Normandy and the Loire Valley. His impressionistic portrayals of these idyllic river landscapes convey the rich colours and compelling beauty of this environment. Robin became a professor, an elected officer of the Académie des Beaux Arts, and served as a member of the jury of the legendary Paris Salon. He was highly commended, winning major French painting awards of the era and receiving commissions from European Heads of State and government. Represented by distinguished art dealers, the work of Georges Charles Robin resides in numerous important private and museum collections around the world.
