Notre Dame et la Seine a Paris
by Jean Albert Pougny
Jean Lefort studied in Paris. He made a name for himself primarily through his watercolours of war themes, and also illustrated various books on World War I, including Les Croix de Bois by R. Dorgelès. He mostly painted townscapes, and liked to depict scenes of life in Paris.
He exhibited in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants and the Salon of the Société des Aquarellistes Français, of which he was a committee member. He was president of the Société des Peintres du Paris Moderne, the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon des Humoristes. He was Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
