Literature: Dantu was a speicliast painter of scenes in Japan where he found success capturing the blossom trees at atmospheric times of day. His work was shown at the Salon Orientalists in Paris.
Georges Dantu was born April 10, 1867 in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris and died April 23, 1948 in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
Dantu was a member of the National Society of Fine Arts (1910-1913), he exhibited at the Salon of French Artists of which he was a member, from 1914 to 1929 as well as, among others, at the Winter Salon, at the Salon des Indépendants, at the Salon Orientalists and in various galleries including the Galerie Devambez and the Galerie Georges Petit (1924-1929).
In 1929, he presented at the Winter Salon the paintings Church of the Trinity-in-Megven, Snow, Moulin du Chef des bois (snow), Under the cherry trees in Japan, Vision of the Far East.
He is buried in the old cemetery of Boulogne-Billancourt.
Some of his works are kept at the Carnavalet Museum.
