Armand Point was born in Algiers in 1861 and died in Naples in 1932.was a student of Herst. He came to Paris in 1888 and was linked to Numa Gillet. He showed in Paris in 1889, gaining an honourable mention and a bronze medal. In 1893, he was awarded a travel grant for his exhibition at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. He was one of the founders of the Salon de la Rose + Croix.

Point's first works are of Algerian scenes. After being part of the first Nabis group, Point, captivated by the efforts of the English Pre-Raphaelites, tried to begin a similar movement in France, taking its inspiration from Florentine works, particularly those of Sandro Botticelli. Armand Point showed deep erudition and indisputable talent in trying to resurrect the art of the 15th and 16th centuries. Many of his admirers regretted the fact that he did not put more effort into more personal artistic works. He also produced some interesting modern art gems, and in 1896 he created the Hauteclaire community that revived this form of art.
