Fernand Toussaint was a pupil of Jean-François Portaëls at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. He could paint in all genres, and produced an enormous body of work. He featured at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, and was awarded a third class medal in 1901.
