Born 26 May 1871, in Paris; died 9 July 1945, in Paris.

Léon Printemps was a french symbolist painter who studied under Gustave Moreau at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He painted in the Low Countries, particularly Belgium, then in Brittany and the Vendée islands (Noirmoutiers and Yeu). His works include portraits of the Princess of Waldeck, the Prince of Waldeck and Prince Youssoupoff.

He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1893, presenting Prince Youssoupoff in 1899, and also took part in the Salon d'Hiver. He won gold medals at World Trade Fairs in 1900 in Paris and in 1909 in Seattle, and the Prix Frattesi de la Ville de Paris in 1942. In 2000, his descendants organised a retrospective in Paris.
