| Literature | With thanks to Richard Emerson (author of Rhythm and Colour: Hélène Vanel, Loïs Hutton and Margaret Morris) for the following information: The work is believed to date to 1921 based on a large preliminary drawing of this work which was dated as such. The artist was taught by John Duncan Fergusson and he stayed with Hutton often at her home in Saint Paul De Vence along with George Leslie Hunter who had a study nearby - the influence of both painters is very evident in this work. |
