Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful break. I’m writing this from the gallery, cup of tea in hand, reflecting on what’s been an extraordinary few months.
We had a record Christmas. Not by a small margin either, it genuinely caught us off guard in the best possible way. Thank you to everyone who bought, browsed, or simply took the time to engage with what we’re doing here. It means everything.
Finding museum-quality Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings remains as challenging as ever. Every serious piece requires patience, relationships built over years, and frankly a bit of luck. There are weeks when nothing surfaces, and then suddenly a painting appears that makes all the searching worthwhile.
But here’s the thing: they’re selling. Fast. Most paintings are gone within a few weeks of going live on the website. Some within days. That tells me two things. First, that people recognise quality when they see it, and second, that all the legwork is worth it. The effort to find these works, authenticate them properly, and present them well is paying off.
Speaking of presentation, I hope you’ve had a chance to explore the updated website. We’ve spent months getting it right; cleaner design, better performance, new features that actually make browsing enjoyable rather than frustrating. I’m genuinely proud of how it looks and, more importantly, how it works.
But don’t just take my word for it. The traffic numbers are backing it up. More people are finding us, spending time on the site, and, most gratifyingly, coming back. The combination of design improvements, SEO work, and our geographical focus is helping solidify our position as one of the UK’s faster-growing Impressionist galleries.
That said, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What’s working? What could be better? Drop me a line, I read everything that comes through.
It’s worth noting that values continue to rise. Quality Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works are becoming increasingly scarce, and the market reflects that reality. It’s good to see our works appreciated across the board, particularly for the provenanced pieces from established names. For collectors, that means you can take comfort as in all likelihood your works will be worth more tomorrow; but maybe more importantly, it means taking advantage of the opportunity.
2026 feels full of possibility. The market for quality Impressionist and Post-Impressionist work remains strong, and we promise to continue what we do best: identifying great works and showing them to people who appreciate them.
The hunt goes on. Here’s to another year of discovery.
All the best,
Nick Leighton
