Albert Lynch was born in Lima, Peru and went to Paris to attend classes given by Jules Noël, Henri Lehmann and Gabriel Ferrier at the École des Beaux-Arts. Lynch's genre scenes are handled with a fin-de-siècle elegance

He took part in the Paris Salon from 1890, receiving a bronze medal in 1890, a first class medal in 1892 and a gold medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle. He was made Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur in 1901.

An artist by this same name illustrated, at the end of the 19th century, several works by O. Uzanne about women and fashion and The Lady of the Camellias ( La dame aux camélias) by Alexander Dumas.
