LOUIS AGRICOL MONTAGNÉ (1879-1960) Biography

This distinguished French painter of landscapes and genre scenes was born in Avignon on 18th August 1879.

He studied under Paul Sain and Cormon, and exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1901. In 1911 he took a scholarship at the Salon.

Montagné was highly regarded by his contemporary artists, and was awarded the Lauréat de l'Institut and became a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. A number of his works are held in various French museums.

He died in Paris in 1960.
