Stamped verso with the mark of Gustave Sennelier - Quai Voltaire, Paris

Sennelier began working at Quai Voltaire in 1887 and his store was frequented by many of the most important french painters of the time.
Edgar Degas was a prolific customer and actually commissioned Sennelier for a range of bespoke pastels in 1901. It took Sennelier three years to perfect the formula for Degas.

Sennelier have confirmed the authenticity of the stamp and the boards production date
