GIDEON FIDLER (1857-1942) Biography

Younger brother of the celebrated impressionist painter Harry Fidler.  Sons of a Wiltshire farmer, the Fidlers lived & worked in the villages west of Salisbury, namely Chilmark & Teffont.  Gideon specialised in country subjects in the west of England but he also painted in Scandinavia.  His works were exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Painters in watercolour.


Exhibited at the Royal Academy 1895 - entitled "In Gamle Norge" - depicting a view of the artists children on holiday in Norway in a field of flowers
