Literature

A fine watercolour of Julia Shaw, wife of Philip Hardwick, the noted architect. The boy to the left is their youngest son, who died of Smallpox at Eton. The boy playing the mandolin is Philip Charles Hardwick who also became an architect and workd on the Bank of England, Charterhouse School and Euston Rail Terminus amongst many other notable projects.
