ROBERT RUSSELL MACNEE (1880-1952) Biography
Robert Russell Macnee was born in Milngavie, Dunbartonshire and studied at Glasgow School of Art. He is noted for his paintings of country scenes, especially of poultry. His pictures are usually full of sunlight and, though his brushstrokes are broad, his work has the feel of cool restraint.
He exhibited 115 times at the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts as well as Manchester City and Liverpool Walker Art Galleries, the Royal Academy, the Royal Hibernian Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours.
